Happy, HAPPY New Year!! Wow – almost everywhere I’ve read in the last day or so, it seems like we are all breathing a collective sigh of relief that 2010 is over. After the ferocious Year of the Tiger most of us will need to ‘go somewhere to lick our wounds and rest after the battles of the previous year.’ Last year was definitely hectic and challenging, here’s our recap:

January started perfectly – with a visit to EcoChic in Geneva and to TheKeyTo in Berlin where I finally met, face-to-face, some of the great women involved in Eco-Fashion: Abigail Doan, Summer Rayne Oakes, Kate Dillon, Greta Egan, to name a few. But then in February, a few weeks before Estethica in London and the Green Shows in New York (ticket in hand), I had a snowboarding accident in Switzerland that resulted in surgery and pins in three vertebrae. In the midst of this (only 6 weeks from surgery), I moved again from Switzerland back to Tokyo and spent most of the spring and summer recovering and blogging from a horizontal position!

However, by September, I was well enough to make the journey from Tokyo to the Now Showcase in New York (I was honoured to be media sponsor) where I finally met, face-to-face, the American designers behind such great labels as EcoSkin, Creem, JAI, Deborah Linquist, Turk + Talyor plus many more! Then a great trip (home) to Toronto allowed me to meet the designer behind Thieves and to create a partnership that will see me (also) become the fashion editor in 2011 for a beautiful magazine called Pure Green.

The Year of the Tiger was ferocious and challenging, but also highly productive and fruitful! In the end, Magnifeco published 374 eco-fashion posts in 2010, drawing almost 60,000 visitors from 177 countries! This coupled with 3,300+ followers on Twitter, and 2,800+ friends and fans on Facebook led to over 100,000 page views in 2010! My goal, to provide daily eco-fashion updates for the global community of eco-fashionistas is growing more successfully than I had imagined!

A big thank you to all of the conscious and ethical designers who keep producing fashion that is so inspiring to write about and share.

A big thank you to all the eco-boutiques who share their stories and write about themselves each Monday in the weekly Boutique-of-the-Week segment!

And to my lovely readers – thank you for reading, following, sending me notes and tips, and spreading the word about slow and ethical fashion!

I can’t wait for Magnifeco 2011. There are more features and collaborations planned, plus an(other) exciting side-project that we will announce in a few days. I am always open to contributions and hearing about new products, so if you are writer interested in guest-blogging, a boutique owner or designer, please drop me a line. I am open to content syndication this year, so if you are a publisher interesting in reprinting/reposting content, please drop me a line. And I also am open to more face-to-face meetings, so if you find yourself in Tokyo (like the lovely duo Stewart+Brown) and would like to meet up, please drop me a line.

The Year of the Rabbit is meant to be ‘a temperate year with unhurried pace. For once, it may seem possible for us to be carefree and happy without too many annoyances’. Hear, hear! Happy New Year!
