A peek in my wardrobe – People Tree

For my most recent trip to NYC Market Week I needed something versatile, stylish and able to adapt to the mid-September weather, however it was to develop. People Tree fashion meets the Fair Trade principles set out by WFTO (World Fair Trade Organisation), they work closely with 50 Fair Trade groups in 15 countries. They  also work hard to ensure that they pioneer ecologically sound methods of production and minimise environmental impact. Not only is most of their cotton certified organic and Fairtrade, all People Tree‘s clothes are dyed using safe and natural dyes. And they source as many products as they can locally, choosing natural and recycled products over toxic, synthetic and non-biodegradable materials.

This means People Tree can produce garments that are beautiful, as well as caring. And the collections are all the more special because they make imaginative use of local skills (handwoven fabrics, hand screen printing and hand embroidery are used a great deal), which create as much employment as possible in areas that really need it. This luxurious hand screen printed silk dress, loose fitting with wide sash belt at waist (which can be tied at the front or back.) Made in India. A gorgeous, versatile piece! £ 100.00
