A peek in my wardrobe – Seed Power Body Care
When the lovely people at SEED asked me if I would like to ‘try’ their products, I was surprised. Not that they wanted me to review them but that grape seed products existed. The SEED story began when co-founders Rebecca and Benjamin Gournay’s started gathering research on getting pregnant. They also started putting more effort into “detoxifying” – to increase their chances of success – and to support a healthy pregnancy if they succeeded. Benjamin has a great appreciation for wine and would always share with Rebecca its multitude of health benefits, so when Rebbecca came across a small line of upscale spa products made with grape seeds – something clicked. The idea of using the natural byproducts of the wine-making process appealed to their new environmental awareness, so they began working with a microbiologist in Boulder to confirm scientific benefits: grape seeds, like several other seeds, are intrinsically concentrated with incredible antioxidants and essential fatty acids promoting healthy skin. The result is this collection of affordable products that not only feel good, but are good for you too.
They sent me samples of the whole collection – and I don’t have a negative word to say about any of the products. My favourite is the Nourishing Body Lotion: the lotion is rich in linoleic and essential fatty acids, which protects the skin and aids in moisturizing. The lotion also includes soothing green tea extract and shea butter for extra conditioning benefits. Available in three different scents: Invigorating Citrus Blend, Restful Lavender Sage, and Unscented. I love the Simply Unscented (which still smells of the shea butter) it absorbs quickly, is not greasy, and leaves my skin really soft. Sells for $8.99 USD.
They also sell a grape seed oil enriched Shampoo Bar that also includes conditioning panthenol Pro-Vitamin B5 and fruit seed oils. I gave this one to my partner who raves about it. “It foams up nicely and isn’t overly perfumed,” he said, and it left him feeling “fresh and clean.” Sells for $4.49 USD. These products are available at some Whole Foods stores and online (but only ships to the U.S.)
