About Rebecca Van Bergen
Rebecca van Bergen is the Founder and Executive Director of Nest, a nonprofit bringing transparency, business development and advocacy to artisans globally. Having grown up with a great-grandmother and grandmother who were quilters and sewers, Rebecca was fundamentally drawn to craftsmanship as a means of self-expression and opportunity. Shortly after completing her Masters in Social Work, Rebecca founded Nest at age 24. Ten years later, Rebecca leads an organization that is bridging the gap between global artisans and brands like West Elm, Target, Maiyet, PVH, Patagonia, and Eileen Fisher. Using a systems-change approach that champions replicable, high-level mentorship to artisans, Nest is uniting and supporting a network of more than 300 artisan business across 50 countries globally. In 2016, Nest received Ashoka and C&A Foundation’s Fabric of Change Award. She is a Levi Strauss & Co. Collaboratory Fellow, Draper Richards Kaplan Fellow, Cordes Fellow, and GLG Social Impact Fellow.
