Beyond the Vines: Perfect Building Blocks for Your Work Wardrobe
As soon as they land in Singapore, fashionistas in the know head to Beyond the Vines (BTV), the locally designed, contemporary women’s brand for high quality basics grounded in Scandinavian aesthetic. The BTV concept of offering ‘bare essentials’ as the perfect building blocks for a stylish, work-appropriate wardrobe, is the brainchild of husband-and-wife duo Daniel Chew and Rebecca Ting.
BTV ‘s strong following can also be tied to affordability: they offer competitively priced fashion staples that last beyond fast fashion’s single season. Although the brand is produced in China, Rebecca shared with Her World, “We took months to run stringent checks on our manufacturers to ensure the dressmakers work in a clean and safe environment and are fairly paid.”
Launched in May 2015, the online brand quickly followed other successful online brands by creating an offline pop-up so shoppers could touch and feel the quality. Their current installation at the Mandarin Gallery is closed for a make-over until mid-June.
The BTV seasonal collections consist of dresses, tops, bottoms and outerwear in a monochrome palette of white, black and grey, plus complimented with season specific hues. This season we love the lightweight silk blends in mauve and blue.
