Sarah and John Burrows co-founded Wood Design, an online furniture shop and blog, to share discoveries of contemporary and sustainable wood design in furniture, accessories, buildings and interiors. Wood Design curates an expanding list of emerging and established designers and provides a platform for creative, unique, and often exclusive, pieces. In their blog, they share a story of a designer each day and report on trends of wood in design.

Wood Design tries to support local by encouraging buyers to buy from designers in their own city, offering local free shipping where possible. Featured designer Andre Joyau is a Brooklyn-based designer whose wood furnishings are created from collected and recycled timber found in the forests throughout the north east. For the past 25 years André has been creating and producing exclusive sculpture and wood furnishings in his New York studio. His Yasu Credenza features 6 drawers with full extension drawer slides, made of Walnut with stainless steel leg.

Wood Design carries the large and the small. We love the Utensil Crate, made in solid FSC Certified walnut with space for untensils in the front and knives in the rear.  A minimal and elegant design by Geoffrey Lilge of Edmonton, Canada.

Another Wood Design artist is Studio Dunn, a small furniture company in Rhode Island passionate about creating original and thoughtful designs. Their inspiration is derived from a rich appreciation for American tradition, heritage, invention, and ingenuity. These Coventry Stools are made of American hardwood.

Designers as well as interior designers, architects or retailer services are encouraged to contact Wood Design for submissions, custom requests and/or collaborations.
