Hand-made Thursdays
Men’s neckties seem to be the latest ‘it’ fabric/fashion pieces to upcycle. A few weeks ago we featured Etsy-seller lilian asterfield and her couture neck pieces and accessories. And this week we’ve found two more magnifeco tie re-creators. This Cocktail Dress from Glamarita, is made from approximately 20-30 recycled men’s ties. It is fitted and can be made with halter or tank style straps or without! $215 USD.
She also makes custom ballgowns. These dresses are made with 36-42 ties in a colour combination of your choice such as navy/burgundy, teal/purple or light blues/grey. There is a zipper down the back and it is made specifically to your measurements to give you the perfect hourglass shape!! $235 USD. Ships everywhere.
Like to wear your ties a little more casual? girlwithbeads designer Rebecca Alderman started out by making little bags & things from found objects, recycled materials, plastic bags, old clothes, etc. This passion developed into a range of unique, handcrafted bags and accessories made from old clothes, suit jackets and ties.
