Hip hip hooray for hemp – the world’s strongest natural fiber. It has been used to make cloth and rope for over 10,000 years. It requires little or no pesticides to grow and it is harvested in only a few months, making it very sustainable (it also requires much less water than cotton.) Hip hip hooray for design team Håkan and Arlene Nilsson who, deciding that hemp would also make a fantastic handbag material, developed Hemptress™, Inc. – a line of eco-friendly handbags and accessories. After three years in development, Hemptress™, Inc. launched in January, 2010. The Mona Foldover bag has a single handle that ties in knot on left. It is 12”w x 8.5”t x 2.5”d with a 5.75” handle drop. 100% Hemp body with bonded leather trim (re-purposed from recycled leather) and light gold tone hardware.
