Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, Superga’s new creative directors, unveil their capsule collection for the revered sneaker brand.

101-year-old trainer label Superga really is the brand du jour. With Alexa Chung directing and starring in its advertising campaigns, the Italian company has further boosted its fashion credentials by inviting design duo Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen on board as creative directors.

The Olsens, who have made the switch from acting to designing with their luxury fashion label The Row, will see their Superga debut go on sale exclusively at Harvey Nichols later this month.

Having already collaborated with charitable espadrille giants TOM’s (for whom they conceived cashmere-covered styles), the 25-year-old twins have given Superga’s covetable classic 2750 lace-ups a luxurious makeover. Turning to cosy cashmere once again, The Row for Superga’s designs in black, grey and navy are embellished with gold hardware.

Those wondering about the price point should brace themselves… While an average pair of Superga sneakers retail for around £40, The Row’s cost an altogether more pocket-pinching £250.
