She will address topics such as the innovative and transformative influence of sustainability on fashion products, fashion systems, and fashion design practice.
• September 20: Eco-centric: A Green Fashion Show, collaboration with Laumeier Sculpture Park. Featuring the work of 3 local designers who have an eco-friendly practice: Katie Kantley, Genny Cortinovis and Michael Drummond. Kantley is a textile artist who creates hand-dyed scarves, jackets, and other women’s apparel using the ancient Shibori process which is native to Japan. Cortinovis merges contemporary design and traditional production, using fashion as a tool for preserving cultural traditions and fostering sustainable economic growth. Drummond uses scrap, discarded and vintage materials to construct his visually arresting garments.
