Villa Santa Cruz – a green getaway in Baja

If January is proving to be too much for you, perhaps you need to book a few days in at the Villa Santa Cruz, just outside the surf town of Todos Santos, north of Cabo San Lucas on Mexico’s Baja peninsula.

Housing just 4 suites, the Villa offers everything on the ‘stress-busting’ list: a heated swimming pool and jacuzzi, quiet beachfront property, shaded hammocks for siesta, a large rooftop terrace to take in the sunsets, and an easy walk to the La Pastora surf.

During this time of year the Pacific Ocean in Baja California Sur is typically warm enough for swimming and surfing, plus from November to April humpback whales can be seen passing through the area on their annual migration.

If we had you at ‘warm’ you’ll be thrilled to hear Villa Santa Cruz is also proud to be “green.” The 20-acre estate operates on its own solar power: the Villa is powered almost entirely by solar electricity and the pool is heated through a solar system. All linens are line-dried and gas lamps are used at night. Local seafood and produce from its organic vegetable garden are combined for the home-style meals; and guests are invited to join a cooking lesson in the kitchen.
